An oft-overlooked, but very heart healthy diet is a high fiber diet plan. Obviously this high fiber diet plan is high in fiber, but additionally it also tends to include a diet that is lower in caloric intake as well. The reason the high fiber diet plan tends to include small amounts of calories is due to the nature of fiber as it is very filling, it will tend to fill you more quickly than other types of foods.

Since the caloric intake is significantly reduced, many people will also be able to lose weight while remaining healthy. A strong benefit of a high fiber diet is the fact that high fiber foods are typically lower in fat, this means that the high fiber diet is a good diet for high cholesterol groups.

Many dieters have two goals, each very important: losing weight, and reducing their cholesterol intake. A lot of diets will work toward one of these goals or the other, but not both. High-fiber diets are not like this. They are an effective weight loss tool and also help reduce cholesterol. In addition, they help the dieter to maintain a lifestyle that will contribute to overall good health.

Another major benefit to the high fiber diet plan is the fact that the diet actually consists of many types of foods that are readily available, easy, and fun to eat. For instance types of foods such as, whole breads and cereals. In addition foods such as fruits and vegetables are typical items found on this diet menu. These are easy to eat and in addition to that taste great.

A major deterrent to many dieters is the ability to abide by the diet's food choices or lack of choices. This diet contains no food items which people will dislike. Disliking the food choices prevents many people from being successful on a diet. On this diet menu, the high fiber foods are great for your body. And they all taste great, too.

A high fiber diet is also often high in carbohydrates. A switch to this type of high fiber diet however may surprise many with the amount of weight that can be shed and its cholesterol lowering effects. This surprising result is indeed different from what most people think. For those however who don't like to eat carbohydrates or find they have an adverse reaction to high carbohydrate intake this diet plan may not be the right one for them.

High fiber foods are generally low in fat, making this a good diet for high cholesterol patients. The goals of weight loss plans are twofold: effective weight loss, and reduction of cholesterol. Most diets only solve one, but high fiber intake tackles both. This diet doesn't rely on prepackaged foods. High fiber foods include whole grain cereals and breads, and fruits and vegetables. This diet is high in carbohydrates, so if this is a negative, this diet may not be for you.
